I never thought…
I’d buy a brand new car
I’d have four sons
I’d officiate family funerals
I’d be teaching third grade
I’d live where I’d live
I’d write on my phone
We never think of some things until …what surprises are part of your life?

Your poem structure is so simple yet captures so much through the sharing of these eight lines. You will definitely finish this challenge! I may tuck this structure away and try it. Thanks for sharing.

I like this structure, Tim! Four sons– a new car– and monthly slicing! Those are some categories! I need to go back and read some of your posts. The keeping up has gotten away from me!!!

I’ve found it harder to keep up as well! I’m hoping to springboard slicing into teacher thought blogging + Tuesday slicing.

I love the way we learn so much in a few lines here. I like this structure and may borrow it. You got this!

Ooh, I like this introspective, insightful post! Hmm…I never thought I’d be married, be a mom, have a preemie, work in the NICU, be an ARD facilitator…I could keep going, too!

I like this format too and how it leads to reflection and insight. I might have to borrow it!

I too am feeling it today – almost at the finish line. Loved your poem … I never thought I would be the mom to my 65-year-old mom who didn’t know me. I never thought I would write a book or run a marathon.

This is cool!
I never thought I would live in Australia and India (I’m from England), have five children including twins, become a teacher in my 40s, start and run a primary school for very poor kids, when I was nearly 60, built by my husband.

Really cool format and thoughts! I remember my father-in-law telling me one thing he was so baffled about was a microwave cooking food. He bought all his children one when they first came out and were very expensive.
